New diet, bball tryout.

April 17th, 2006 / posted by Jake

Tyler is now 9 weeks old, and just this past week we have been forced to change his diet. He now prefers 1 fist in his mouth for an hour, or sometimes he tries to sneak in a 2nd fist. But being the good parents we are, we don’t let him suck on his fists all the time and we convince him that a bottle full of formula is better for him in the long run.

With summer quickly approaching Tyler enjoys wearing shorts. Not just any shorts mind you. He loves his jersey/knit shirts the most. He and uncle Kent both seem to have taking a liking to the sport of basketball and #25. The only difference between Tyler and Kent would have to be height. Tyler is just a little over 2 feet tall and uncle Kent stands in at 6′5″. But at the rate Tyler is growing length wise, he will be able to school uncle Kent in a round of 1 on 1 in about 1 year.

My sole purpose in going to the gym on a daily basis is to make sure that Tyler is never stronger than me. He may be taller, but never stronger. Never never ever never.

Ikea

April 2nd, 2006 / posted by Jake

Well IKEA finally arrived here in Sacramento a month ago and our lives haven’t been the same since! We love the store so much, that we returned today with my mom just to show her how great it truly is. Tyler really enjoys it as it gives him the opportunity to be strapped in his tandem-carrier that mom wears. He enjoyed what felt like 10 miles of walking and had only positive input to give when questioned. My favorite piece of furniture in the store would have to be the dresser and matching nightstands we purchased. They all have a nice antique-wood stained finish to them. Lindsey really enjoys a few of their couches and love seats, my mom enjoyed their assortment of counter tops and Tyler seemed to be favor the Swedish meatballs they serve in the restaurant. We plan on frequenting Ikea a few times each month just to make sure they stay in business.

Well along with managing any sort of rental property, you are always bound to have to deal with a few odd-balls once in awhile. We have had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with one such odd-ball so much, that the Sheriff will finally be relieving the complex of this person this coming Monday. We have been counting the days for a few months now. Rather than disclose ‘why’ this person is leaving, I think that sharing a few key reasons as to why this individual will not be missed would help to just barely scratch the surface:

  • We will no longer receive phone calls at 3am asking Lindsey to goto the office and work.
  • We will no longer receive complaints accusing us of jumping on this individual’s bed and causing damage to it.
  • We will no longer receive complaints of having sub-let this persons apartment. While they were out of town, during which the bed was urinated on.
  • Our maintenance person will no longer be accused of faking his identity.
  • Our other manager will no longer be accused of making fun of this individual on her TV show (which she doesn’t have).
  • We will no longer receive complaints of answering this persons incoming cell phone calls on our cell phones.
  • We will also no longer receive complaints of having hi-jacked this persons cellphone (which, irronicly enough, the individual was using to place this complaint).
  • We will no longer have our security inform us that this individual was pacing outside the bottom of our stairwell at 3am.
  • We will no longer look out our windows while changing Tylers diaper to see this person looking in waving at us.
  • We will no longer receive complaints of this persons neighbors listening in on his conversations through a top-secret device through the wall outlets.

Yes. Monday will be a day of rejoicing.
