Finally Real Food!

July 27th, 2006 / posted by Jake

Tyler is nearing his 6 month mark (in a little over a week) and it seems like each day he learns something new. For about 2 months now he’s been rolling from front to back and back to front non-stop! Lately when we put him on the ground he scoots around on his belly, and the closer he can bring himself to the cat the better. When he’s on his stomache he gets into crawling position and tries so hard to put it all together and crawl but he just falls on his belly and scoots around. So maybe by his 6 month mark we’ll have crawling Tyler.

For about 1 1/2 weeks now, Tyler has been eating infant food! We started him off on rice cereal, and oatmeal. He prefers the oatmeal over the rice cereal 10 fold. It seems like we cant feed him enough, quick enough! When the spoon leaves his mouth and we go to scoop up more he starts fussing until the spoon is back in his mouth where it clearly belongs. We’re not sure who he takes after… Just yesterday we started him on carrots food. He doesn’t like this as much as his oatmeal, but its still more appealing than his formula. At least thats what these pictures portray. And yes, he’s flipping you the bird in one of the pictures. Don’t know who taught him that either. Probably someone his mom cut off in the car the other day..

Aloha From Hawaii

We had the opportunity to spend 8 days in Hawaii this past week, and it was a huge blast and success! To answer the most common question first, Tyler did absolutely fine on the plane ride both to and from. For the most part he slept, otherwise his time was spent being held by everyone. Rather than explain every enjoyable detail, we thought that a small summary would suffice and we’ll let the pictures fill in all the details.

We stayed in a nice condo in Turtle Bay where we had the pleasure of A/C for those hot & humid nights. Oh boy did that ever make a world of difference for everyone. We spent a lot of our time snorkeling with the exotic fish, sea turtles and other beautiful sea life in the vacinity of Shark’s cove. We were also able to travel the entire island of Oahu and see beautiful sights and food. We were able to go on a tour where guides direct you to groups of dolphins and sea life and you can snorkel with them up close! That was a lot of fun, and a once in a lifetime experience! The Polynesian Center was also a blast and great way to end our stay. All in all it was a really great vacation and Tyler did very well.
