For those of you who don’t remember, last year we had 3 straight weeks of triple-digit heat. If I recall correctly it was in late July too. Well this week we’ve had a couple of days with 100+ heat and it has been miserable. Luckily for us, both of our cars have working A/C, my work keeps the temperature at -30 degrees to ensure you don’t fall asleep, and in our apartment its always a cool 69 degrees. At night we turn our master bedroom into a wicked bat-cave — its pitch black, freezing cold and we hangup side down from the ceiling. When the +$100 utility bill arrives we fill it full of bat-dung and whisk it away in the mail. Its great.
On the weekends, Tyler’s morning begins like this: He crawls out of bed, walks over to my side of the bed (where I’m desperately trying to get every last second of sleep I can) and proceeds to pound my face with his hand yelling “Dadadadadadadadadadada”. Sometimes I pretend it isn’t happening just like I used to do on my mission with the companion I DID NOT get along with – I’d close my eyes tight as possible and hope that when I peeked one open, he would be gone. Needless to say this trick didn’t work. But he does get me out of bed early ensuring that I am proactive for the rest of my 20 hour day. He thoroughly enjoys eating breakfast burritos from Del Taco where his mom claims to only go 1x a month but Tylers diaper tell a much different story.
Usually after work we all goto the gym and swim in the kiddie pool. Tyler loves this because it has a great outdoor waterpipe/park. So while he plays outside of the pool in the waterpark, Lindsey and I bask in the rather large kids pool which has way too many warm spots in it. But thankfully its about 70% chlorine, 20% pee and 10% actual water which keeps us clean. Occasionally Tyler likes to do a running jump into the pool and its usually on the side we are not at so we have to walkover as quickly as possible to where he is going to jump in.
Lindsey is about 4 1/2 months away from giving birth to our 2nd child. We have yet to pickout a name probably because we can never agree on one. I’m thinking we wait until she is born and then whatever comes out of our mouth when it’s time to name her is what it will be. Lindsey is not too keen on this idea but I like the surprise of it.
I still enjoy my bike rides. We’ve been doing a lot of downhill biking lately which has been fun. I somehow managed to reinjur my wrist pretty bad but I don’t remember exactly how. It feels broken but I can still use it so maybe its fractured. But who cares right?
