20 pounds?

April 11th, 2008 / posted by Jake

On January 1, 2008, Lindsey and I both started our first ever diets. By first ever diets, I mean we actually followed a system and have since lost about 25-27 pounds each.

For me, I’ve sort of slacked off these past few weeks and haven’t really tried to lose anymore weight. But, luckily, I have maintained meaning I haven’t gained anything. With another California summer knocking on the door, I need to get back in gear and try to drop 20 pounds by June 1. There is nothing worse than being fat in 100+ degree weather. Plus Calvin Klein called and they need an underwear model. And finally, Tyler is getting tired of having to tie my shoes since I can barely reach past my knees.

So with that said, I need your help. I need encouragement. So keep me motivated and I’ll keep you updated on my progress not that you care. The last 6 months of my mission I dropped weight significantly. I had signs all over our apartment which had motivational sayings such as, “you’re fat. stop.”, “girls, girls, girls…” etc; and it helped. I will be hanging signs up throughout our home to remind myself so if you have a few “signs” you’d like to hang on our site, feel free.

Heres one I’ll be hanging up:

**Update: Actually, I’ll create signs of what you suggest and take a picture of where I hung it.

“No longer use garden hose as a belt”

  2. “Drink a glass of water”

This sign will remind you everytime you want to put something into your mouth to drink a glass of water instead. You’ll feel full, although it won’t be as much fun as eating chocloate…..

  4. Water is good and honestly its my drink of choice. While most people may not believe me, I prefer water over everything else simply because it doesn’t make me thirsty.

However there are only two times where I refuse to drink it – in the middle of the night because it just isn’t appealing and tastes horrible for some reason. And I refuse to drink warm water even if it has a hint of cold to it.

Speaking of cold water, in the 4 years of our marriage, we’ve always had cold water. Duh right? Well we don’t drink tap water because its not cold enough for me. So we used to have a picture of filtered brita water in the fridge. But it got old having to fill it 2-3 times a day so we switched to costco mini-bottled waters. We’d load about 50 of them in the fridge but this became a pain because we’d go through 2-3 cases a week and moving those suckers around is miserable. So we finally settled with the office-type 5 gallon of water dispenser thingy. It’s great because they deliver it to our door step and its always cold. Yah, so we pay $20 a month for water when we could get it free from the tap. But, a, we pay for the tap water and b, Lindsey says sometimes hot men deliver the water.

  5. K, so I too am not funny.. but what about a sign that says,

    “Let it digest first!”

I think a lot of people don’t eat slow enough or stop early enough to realize they are full. That’s usually my problem… I eat more food than I need to feel full. Then I usually feel sick.

  9. It don’t matter if your food is fried, just eat it. Dieting isn’t fun.
