Very amusing... but I still think flying is better. We just must be pros at it because the last time we flew up to Sacramento the whole trip (including packing, etc.) took a total of four hours and we had eight, yes 8, checked bags and both the kids.
We just drove to and from Tahoe without the kids and just the drive time was 9 hours. To try to make this as quick as possible we barely stopped to use the restroom, and when we stopped for gas got something to eat in the quicky mart (which I REALLY regretted later). We almost got blown off the road due to high winds, an hour of driving through snowfall (not in Tahoe though), and sat in traffic coming down the Cajon Pass after I had been driving for eight hours. I guess it does make it worse for me because I am the only one who can drive (Shilo does not have a license). When we took the kids to Mammoth, a drive that usually takes us five hours by ourselves, took us about seven. Sorry man, I'll fly over driving any day!

dude, you are soo right! emerson and i have talked about this several times. the worst is once you are on the flight you never know WHAT your kids are gonna do. whether it is a major blow-out up the back from the cabin pressure, or tripping and busting their lip open on an armrest(mom wears a bloody shirt for the rest of the flight) or they just want to whine and cry the whole time. so, after you land everyone hates you and you are THAT person on the plane ride. i think the plane ride itself is as miserable if not more than any long drive in the car....barf.

Don't you have to pack luggage anyways if you are traveling whether by car or plane? If so, add that time to your drive, now you are around 12 hours, so, by flying you save at least 2 hours. That 2 hours can be spent watching Iron Man for the second time. Flying rules.

Yah, so in your situation, you also had to tack on the time it takes to drive BACK to the airport to pick-up the truck and then back home. That takes the cake.

You are SOOOOOOOOOOO right. One time, between Dennis and I, we had a total of 2 (two) suitcases. They came out FIRST and, yup, dead last. But that was better than the time we were returning home on a flight that got in at 11:45 PM. MY suitcase came off the belt 2nd...Dennis's suitcase never arrived AT ALL and...(are you ready)the keys to the truck - left parked at the airport- were in THAT suitcase. Who do you call after you have realised your suitcase ain't coming, you have filed a missing suitcase report and it is now 12:35 AM? Wanna hear the worst part? Taxi ride home = $65. No kidding.

Moral of the story: Keep the car keys in your POCKET not in the suitcase.
