So, I was waiting for Jake to post some of the new pictures of the kids, but he has been so crazy busy with school and work that I thought I would give you all an update myself.
Here is what we have been up to, my Bengal had kittens she had a total of five, however, there is only one left. I have never dealt with baby kittens and I didn’t know how to help her, but at least we have one!!! I was so devastated. I have decided I will breed her once more hopefully it works out better, if not I am done!
I am still working on finding a phlebotomy job, I finished the program in July and not having any luck finding someone who will hire new grads. Jake is still in his EMT class and studying a ton!! He is taking a few other fire tech classes also that keep him busy along with work.
Tyler is growing so fast, he enjoys counting to ten for me…not always in order, he loves to take all of the toys away from Kaitlyn (we are working on that) and he sported his first suit to church on Sunday (I guess grandma was sick of the jeans ….we love it Shelley) Tyler has also started drivers ed.
Kaitlyn has three teeth now, she is gettign ready to walk, she yells tylers name from her crib when she gets up in the morning (thats because Tyler usually gets to her before I do) oh and the best is that she can take her own diaper off……….not always so nice, i am not a fan of finger painting in the crib!
With summer FINALLY coming to an end (I just don’t like 100+ degree heat I guess… weird huh?) we’ve been getting in as much swimming as possible. We had hoped to have Tyler out of water-wings by the end of the summer but we’re not quite to that point. But he sure does love running and jumping into the pool which is cool but he’s a little too eager to jump in so we have to keep a close eye on him.
I like to stand on the rock for about 30 minutes before I actually get in. I guess I assume that if I wait it out the water will eventually get warmer… but it never does. So while I spend over 30 minutes trying to convince the water that it’s time for it to get warm, Tyler’s swimming around like a fish making me look like a big wuss because I’m too afraid to just get in.
Kaitlyn is also a fish herself. Anytime we go swimming she’ll do everything she can to try and get out of our arms while in the pool and swim around herself. It’s been a lot of fun being able to goto grandmas daily to swim. If only we could convince her to get a heater so we could swim year round Then for Tyler’s 3rd birthday in February we could go swimming!
With my recent return to school, I’ve been able to re-arrange my work schedule to better accommodate classes and homework. It allows me to work from home 2 times a week which is great because I can see Lindsey and the kids that much more and if she wants to leave I can just watch the kids instead of her having to load them up and go. I am currently taking Medical Terminology, EMT, Fire Tec 1, and a Fire Chemistry class. The hardest class by far is the EMT class as it has a LOT of memorizing, and lots of hands on activities all of which need to be perfected as they are life saving practices. I never fully realized all the schooling required for Firefighters/Paramedics. You can’t just goto an academy and get hired on which is what most people assume, myself included.. After you are EMT certified and attend a Fire Academy, you then have to get your Paramedic License which is an additional 12-15 month course. The paramedic class is quite grueling because it’s a Microbiology, Anatomy, Pharmacology, and EMS class all in 1 and because almost all firefighters are required to also be Paramedics there’s no real way around it. But I am happy and motivated with my new endeavor.
