06Hello…Well, I made it to the gym! ya for me! 2 miles on the treadmill and a spin class! So I am starting this new thing with my dad that we are sending each other a food and exercise journal daily in hopes to motivate each other. Or in my case hopefully eat better to save myself the embarrassment! haha So if anyone else is up for a challenge let me know! Hey for any cooks out there with low cal tasty meals send me the recipe I will take all the help I can get!!!

  1. I don’t really have any low cal recipes, but I’ve been trying to eat more wheat and cut out the bleached flour… eat more veggies and fruits, and I’ve also tried to stop eating late at night. I think you don’t necessarily need really low calorie meals if you just make a conscious effort to eat more veggies and fruits, drink more water, and stop eating earlier in the evening.. at least those are my thoughts. I’m a fan of just trying to change my diet slowly over time instead of switching over abruptly to low calorie meals because I don’t think that’s sustainable. I just try to eat less than I think I want and stop eating earlier than I want. Sending exercise and food journals to your dad is a great idea!

  2. oh… and I LOVE this website – http://www.sparkpeople.com. So many great tips for staying healthy, and they have exercise and nutrition trackers that tell you not only how many calories you’re eating, but also how much of everything else (I was NOT getting enough fiber before I started using the website). And they teach you about what to look for and what to eat.

    • yes,I agree with jake, calories in, calories out. Eat what you want, in moderation. I eat 1800 calories a day, I burn 500 working out, and I am nursing the baby, so my body takes in about 1000 calories a day, and I have lost 30 pounds since I had the baby…. I dont believe in diets. I believe in not making food your enemy. have a free day, where you eat ONE thing that you dont eat the rest of the week. Like today, I cooked for 65 people for the PTA teacher luncheon. I made lasagna and olive garden salad and bread sticks….. well I had one small serving of lasagna, 3 helpings of salad, with little dressing….and I dont feel guilty because the rest of the week I ate pretty healthy. So thats my way…. oh and the lap band helps too, but its pretty loose right now =) eat what you want, in moderation, and have a free day where you get to reward yourself for being good all week!
